Outline for Singing Time on 3-22

From an ASL video on lds.org
Here is my plan for this coming Sunday. Every year, I teach the children one song in American Sign Language (ASL).  The Church has several ASL song videos on its website.  You can find all of the available Primary song videos here.  I simplify the signs some, using an online ASL dictionary to help me, in order to make it easier for the children to learn. I look for a program song that is slower in tempo, so our inexperienced signers will have enough time to get through their signs.  This year, we're learning "I Know That My Savior Loves Me" (2015 Outline for Sharing Time).

Junior Primary

“Did Jesus Really Live Again?” (p.64)- v.3-mirror images. (Have children face a partner. One leads the movements; one is the mirror. Instruct the children to choose hand and arm movements that match the slow, flowing feel of the music.  Pair oldest children with the youngest.)

“Follow the Prophet” (p.110)- v. about Pres. Monson-body rhythms (stomp, patsch, clap)

"I Know That My Savior Loves Me"-ASL

Senior Primary

“Did Jesus Really Live Again?”-v.3-hand bells (We'll be playing the chords that are written above the piano music.  I'm simplifying the song to only play one chord per measure.)

“Follow the Prophet” (p.110)- v. about Pres. Monson-partner rhythms (patsch, stomp, clap, arm crosses)

"I Know That My Savior Loves Me"-ASL

Happy Singing!
